Scheme for an inner city apartment complex in Dublin. This project was completed as part of my studies at UCD in Ireland. The Genesis for this project is its core materials – Concrete and Steel. The materials work together over a range of scales to generate a tectonic that roots the project in its surrounding context. Conceptually, the tectonic mimics social interactions at various scales, including the human scale. The design evolved around a hierarchy that placed the unbuilt, in-between space in the same regard as the built space. The result is a building that lives and breathes in the same way its occupants do. Curiosity is rewarded with ones feeling of a sense of place, wherever they are in the project.
